It’s so easy to buy all the essentials for your Wedding Day as soon as you start planning your dream day, but there are some things that you may not have thought about or simply just forgotten.
Here are my top 10 things that you need for your wedding, that aren’t easily thought about:
GUEST BOOK AND PEN
There are lots of alternatives available today, but whether you choose a book, wooden discs, Jenga pieces, to name but a few ideas. One thing that you definitely need to remember is to have something that your Guests can write their messages to you. A Guest book, or whatever you choose, is an excellent memory for you and your other half to look back on in the future, or when you come back off Honeymoon.
This is something that is never thought about. (I carry one in my wedding day tool bag for my Couples to borrow) Think about your photographs when you are cutting the cake. Would you really like to look back on your Photo’s only to see a tiny dinner knife, or a coloured kitchen knife that you have borrowed off the Caterer’s? A silver decorative cake knife is a wonderful keepsake too. You could even think about having it engraved with your wedding day on to make it even more personal.
HANGER FOR YOUR WEDDING DRESS
If you are having your photographer take shots of you getting ready on the morning of your Wedding, chances are they will take a picture of your Wedding Dress hanging up. Wouldn’t your Photographs look more attractive if you had a beautiful white satin coat hanger holding your Gown up?
GIFTS FOR THE WEDDING PARTY AND PARENTS
Traditionally, Gifts were given out after the speeches as a thank you. Often these days, gifts for the wedding party and usually given to them on the morning of the Wedding Day. Gifts were always bought for Parents as a thank you for financially contributing to the Wedding. This is not as common today, but a nice touch to show your appreciation to the people that have got you this far!
PERFUME / AFTERSHAVE
Remember to buy a special perfume for your Wedding Day. Choose one that you have not had before, that way every time you use it, you will remind yourself of your Wedding Day. For me, over 15 years on I am still reminded of my special day when I spray Ralph Lauren, “Romance”. It is a memory that doesn’t go away.
Similarly, to your perfume, choose a lipstick that will compliment you on your Wedding Day. It also needs to be long lasting too. Speak to your Make Up Artist for advice. If you are not having a Make Up Artist, take a trip to your local Department Store, such as House of Fraser or Debenhams and visit the Make-up Counters.
SMALL BAG OR DOLLY BAG FOR YOU OR YOUR MATRON OF HONOUR
That lipstick that you have bought for your Wedding Day, tissues (You will shed a few tears (of happiness of course!) perfume etc. Items that you will need on your Wedding Day, but you don’t really want to have a bag with you. Buy a pretty small bag for your Matron of Honour to look after these essential items for you.
POSTBOX, SUITCASE ETC. FOR YOUR WEDDING CARDS
Remember to have a spare table (with a cloth on if this is your style) or Guests to leave any Gifts that they bring for you. Also, have a nice holder for wedding cards, whether you hire a Post Box, use a vintage suitcase or have a decorative basket or box. Whatever you choose, will depend on your style and theme of your Wedding Day.
GOING AWAY OUTFIT
Whether you are leaving immediately after your Wedding Reception, or a day or two afterwards. Don’t forget to have a special outfit. Your Honeymoon is an extension of your Wedding Day, so you still want to feel special.
