Your Wedding Planning Timeline

 

Your wedding planning timeline is a must have to ensure that nothing gets forgotten during your wedding planning stage. It is particularly important if you are not hiring a Wedding Planner.


FIRST JOBS TO COMPLETE AS SOON AS POSSIBLEYour wedding planning timeline

  1. Decide on a wedding date;
  2. Work out your budget;
  3. Decide on what type of ceremony you want: Church, Registry Office, Civil or Celebrant;
  4. Consider how many Guests you want to invite;
  5. Start collecting inspiration from Pinterest, Instagram and magazines;
  6. Decide on the Reception venue and pay the deposit
  7. Research Suppliers, booking ones that you really want as soon as possible,   e.g. Photographer, Videographer/Caterers/Entertainment
  8. Ask your Bridal Party/Groomsmen.

SIX TO EIGHT MONTHS BEFORE YOUR WEDDING

  1. Go dress shopping;
  2. Start any health and fitness regimes;
  3. Think about honeymoon destinations (And budget, separate from your Wedding budget)
  4. Consider a gift list, if applicable;
  5. Launch your wedding website;
  6. Decide on your Guest list and send out save the dates;
  7. Purchase your dress and book any alterations that are required;
  8. Think about your style for the day and buy any necessary “props”;
  9. Shop for Bridesmaid dresses and Groomsmen outfits;
  10. Choose food options with your Caterers and go for any menu tasting session.

THREE MONTHS TO GO

  1. Send out wedding invitations;
  2. Choose and order your wedding cake and flowers;
  3. Start shopping for bridal accessories – shoes, jewellery etc.;
  4. Book hair and make up artist and have trials
  5. Choose your Ceremony music
  6. Finalise your Ceremony readings and check with your Vicar/Registrar/Celebrant for approval;
  7. Order or make favours;
  8. Finalise menu and flowers;
  9. Purchase wedding rings;
  10. Meet with your Photographer and give them a list of photo shots that you would like / style of photo’s etc.
  11. Send playlist to your Band/DJ or create your own if you are doing your own music;
  12. Provide information to your Guests for any nearby accommodation/taxi details
  13. Plan hen and stag parties

ALMOST THERE – ONE MONTH TO GO

  1. Give notice;
  2. Write speeches;
  3. If you’re planning to buy a gift for your other half, do this now;
  4. Have final dress fitting
  5. Pay final balances;
  6. Chase any outstanding RSVP’s;
  7. Begin writing your wedding vows (If appropriate);
  8. Start arranging the seating plan;
  9. Buy any gifts for your Wedding Party

TWO WEEKS TO GO

  1. Finalise your wedding vows;
  2. Complete your table plan;
  3. Arrange a final trip to the Hairdresser;
  4. Collect your wedding dress;
  5. Finish any DIY tasks;
  6. If you’re providing your own entrance music/ wedding breakfast music, make sure your playlist/CD works;
  7. Book a massage/manicure/pedicure and have some relaxing time the day before your wedding day

ONE WEEK TO GO – THE FINAL COUNTDOWN

  1. Contact all your Suppliers and confirm final details;
  2. Delegate Wedding Day tasks to your Wedding Party;
  3. Wear your shoes to break them in;
  4. Pack for your Honeymoon and make arrangements to get to the airport
