Couples are increasingly seeking ways to make their special day unique and reflect their personalities and values. From sustainable choices to personalised experiences, here’s a glimpse into the top wedding trends that will dominate the scene in 2024.

2024 Wedding Trends

Sustainable Celebrations:

In a world increasingly focused on environmental consciousness, weddings are no exception. Couples are opting for eco-friendly choices to reduce their carbon footprint and positively impact the planet. From invitations printed on recycled paper to locally sourced, seasonal menu options, sustainability is at the forefront of wedding planning.

Intimate Affair:

2024 is witnessing a shift towards smaller, more intimate weddings. Couples are choosing quality over quantity, focusing on creating meaningful connections with their guests rather than hosting extravagant, large-scale events. Intimate weddings allow for more personalisation, allowing couples to craft an experience reflecting their relationship and values. Smaller guest lists also make it easier to prioritise unique details and create a warm, inclusive atmosphere.

Tech-Infused Celebrations:

Technology is playing an increasingly integral role in modern weddings. AI is a big thing in the crucial elements of wedding planning, creating personalised vows and toasts.

Livestreaming ceremonies for remote guests, AI dancefloors, interactive Guest books, and photobooths are all set to become more popular.

Social media platforms continue to be powerful tools for sharing special moments, and couples are embracing custom wedding hashtags to collate and cherish the online memories created by friends and family.

Non-Traditional Venues:

While traditional church weddings will always hold a special place, 2024 is witnessing a surge in non-traditional wedding venues. Couples are seeking unique locations such as botanical gardens, woodlands, waterfront locations, barns, and even private homes to set the stage for their nuptials. This trend allows for more creativity in decor and theme selection, providing a personalised touch that might be challenging in a more conventional setting.

Celebrant Wedding

The Ceremony

Couples are increasingly putting together the Ceremony themselves more than their officiant! By finding unique ways to make their Guests part of the Ceremony, there will be an increase in communal vows – where the Celebrant asks the Guests to commit to supporting the marriage.

Personalised Experiences:

Couples are increasingly looking for ways to make their wedding day a unique reflection of their personalities. Customisation is key, from personalised vows and bespoke wedding attire to unique entertainment options. Interactive elements, such as DIY cocktail bars, live art installations, and customised wedding favours, are gaining popularity as couples strive to create an unforgettable experience for their guests. There’s a significant element of DIY in weddings for Couples to add their unique touch to their day.

Colours of 2024

I saw a lot of soft romantic hues such as blush, lavender, and sage green last year, and the predicted trends show that these colours aren’t going away anytime soon. These ethereal colours create a dreamy atmosphere, perfect for decor and florals.

Food and Drink

Grazing tables and sharing platters are set to remain this year. When it comes to drinks, bespoke cocktails will be a thing, again adding that touch of personalisation. Move over the champagne towers I saw in 2023, and say hello to the Martini tower. Adding a touch of glamour to wedding days, Guests can customise their martini’s.

Capturing the day

Candid photography and a more natural and spontaneous approach, drone videography, and even real-time social media content are among the top wedding trends for 2024.

Entertainment

Goodbye, DJs and hello to live bands. Continuing with the guest interaction theme, we will see an increase in mirror photobooths and live illustrators.

Flowers and Decor

Replacing tradional flower table centrepieces will be fruits, vegetables, fabric, bows, natural materials (rocks and sand), sculptures and layered draping. There will be an increase in smaller bridal bouquets.

The top wedding trends of 2024 are a harmonious blend of sustainability, personalisation, and inclusivity. As couples seek to make their special day memorable and reflect their values, the wedding industry is evolving to meet these demands. Whether it’s an intimate affair in a non-traditional venue or a tech-infused celebration focusing on sustainability, 2024 weddings are poised to celebrate love as unique as the couples.
