Suzy and Christian’s seaside themed Wedding Day

After over a year of not being able to coordinate any Weddings, I was so excited on Saturday to finally be able to work on a Wedding. Suzy and Christian’s day was a fantastic way to start.

Seaside themed Wedding

After getting married at a Church in Shrewsbury, they took the drive by a classic Rolls Royce to the beautiful Cheswell Grange near Newport in Shrewsbury.  Their Wedding Reception was to take place in the marquee with a Seaside Theme.  Although we were nowhere near the Sea, this did not stop them from creating the perfect style (Well we did have the lake in front of the marquee!)

Everything from deckchairs to sand in the candle votive and an amazing, themed Wedding Cake, everything was coordinated perfectly.

So, about the Wedding Day itself…

Guests arrived at Cheswell Grange to be served Prosecco or Beer with Canapes.  Due to the current covid restrictions, the drinks and canapes were served on a table outside the marquee by Jenkinson’s Caterers. Once they’d grabbed a drink they could enjoy the sunshine. There were either deckchairs or haybales with a view of the Swans on the lake.

The Guests were also entertained by Robert Benson, by playing well known tunes with his Saxophone.

The Confetti Shot and Receiving Line

I coordinated the Guests to line up in two lines facing the Boathouse for the confetti shot.  Suzy and Christian walked towards the Marquee while the Photographer snapped away the perfect Confetti Shot.  Suzy and Christian were now in the perfect position to greet all of their Guests personally before they entered the Marquee for the Wedding Breakfast.

The Wedding Breakfast

The starter and main course were served to the Guests, which looked absolutely amazing. Then Christian kicked off the start of the Speeches.  Now, I always love listening to the Speeches. It’s probably one of my favourite parts of the Day because I really get to know the Couple – especially when it comes to the Best Man’s Speech – all of the secrets about the Groom come out then!  Today’s speeches were no different and it was clear to see that Suzy and Christian are a perfect Couple who deserve to be together.

After the speeches, a trio of desserts were served (Which were delicious – well I have to try these things so that I can recommend the Caterer’s to Couples looking to get married! – one of the many perks of my job!!) Suzy and Christian were whisked away by the Photographer for more Photo’s, including them taking a rowing boat out on the lake! before the evening reception began. While this was taking place, the Guests were free to take part in the garden games that were spaced out outside.

The Evening Reception

Suzy and Christian started the Evening Reception by cutting their Wedding Cake, before going straight to the (Non-existent dance floor- due to covid restrictions) and had their first dance which was the Band’s version of I Can’t Help Falling in Love with You.  The evening reception continued into the night with lots more tunes from The Elevation.  When the Guests got hungry, Van Chaud, a 1969 Citroen Van served up a selection of Crepes.

I have missed working on Weddings so for much of today I had a great big smile on my face as it was so good to be back coordinating Weddings.  The sun shone, and even the restrictions that had to still be in place following Government Guidelines didn’t stop this Wedding Day being enjoyed by the Wedding Party and all of their Guests.

“It did go so so quickly but we didn’t feel rushed – we definitely needed you there just pointing out the time to us else we could have stood and talked to our guests or had photos all day long!”

Although the timings didn’t quite go to plan, the day still ran smoothly. After all, no Wedding sticks to the timings! It is your Day, so I never rush you, we just make adjustments.

Keep an eye out for my Blog post that will be coming over the next few weeks all about timings, and my help with coordinating everything.
