Planning your Guest list is probably one of the most stressful parts of planning your Wedding.
The most important thing if you’re trying to keep your Wedding budget as low as possible is to keep you Guest list as small as possible.
You don’t need to invite all your Facebook friends – Let’s face it, how many of those have you met, let alone had an actual friendship with?
Here are some things to think about when planning your Guest list:
DO YOU INVITE THE “PLUS ONE”?
If you’ve never met your Cousin’s boyfriend or girlfriend, why should you invite a stranger to your Wedding?
Also, consider how long your best friend has been in their relationship. Is it recent? Is it likely to last? Again, think about whether you want that “plus one” on your Wedding Photos or video?
HOW ABOUT YOUR SCHOOL/UNI FRIENDS?
Have you seen your School friends since you left school 7+ years ago? Even if they’ve been your best friend since primary school, if you’ve lost touch with each other, why would you invite that person to your Wedding?
EXTENDED FAMILY MEMBERS
When I got married, my mom wanted to invite her Cousins to my Wedding. These were people I had never met. (She did offer to pay for these people, but they were still strangers to me)
YOUR PARENTS FRIENDS
Like my example for inviting extended family members, you really have to think about who’s paying for your Wedding. If your Parents are footing the bill, you’re not really in a position to tell them they can’t turn your Wedding into their social event. If, on the other hand you’re paying, you’re in control of who you invite.
Another decision to make when planning your Guest list. The way I see it, you’ve got three options:
No children at all
Direct relative children (e.g. your own, nieces and nephews
If you decide on option 2 or 3, I recommend you take a look at my blog post
This is so tricky when planning your Guest list. The easiest advice I can give is to read my blog
