There is so much to learn when you are planning your wedding. Here are some of the main planning tips that you need to know before you even start to build up that Pinterest wedding planning board….
Think about the season you are getting married
One of the first planning tips you need to consider when thinking about your flowers and food. Whilst most things are available all year around these days, there are still times when availability comes with a premium and can have an effect on your all-important wedding budget.
Make good use of your Ushers.
They are an important part of your big day so use them. Give them a schedule of your day and get them to work with your On the Day wedding coordinator if you’re having one.
Don’t forget to eat!
This may sound obvious, but you’d be surprised. You are so busy on your wedding day, catching up with your Guests, enjoying every moment, that if you are not having a formal sit-down meal, it can be quite easy to go through the whole day without having a bite to eat. You will, however, be drinking more (alcohol) than you realise, half a glass here, half a glass there and the last thing that you want to be doing is drinking on an empty stomach!
Make sure you’ve got plenty of time for planning.
The ideal length of time you should give yourselves for planning your wedding, is about 18 months, this also gives you a decent amount of time to save up too.
Don’t get carried away buying small things for your big day that your Guests won’t remember.
Are your Guests really going to notice those small arrangements that you are dotting around your Reception venue? Think about what your Guests are really going to be looking at on your Wedding day. What aspects of the day are important to you and focus on spending your money on that?
Take some time out together as Husband and Wife on the day
This is so important. Believe me, the day will go so quick, before you realise the day will be over and you will not have spoken to your other half since you said “I will. Make sure you get some time together to reflect on how the Ceremony went, how you both look, what happened during the time you were getting ready and so on.
Have an open mind when looking for your dress
You may have seen what you thought was your dream dress on Pinterest, but when the reality comes to life and you see it in the Bridal shop it just isn’t you. Try on the dresses that the shop assistant suggests. You may not like it on the hanger, yet when it is on, it could be the one. Remember, bridal shop assistants do this for their jobs, they can see things in wedding dresses that you may not have even thought about – listen to their advice.
Think about quality over price
When planning your wedding, always remember that cheapest isn’t always best. This is your wedding day, the most important day of your life, you want it to be perfect and sometimes this means going for the best.
Don’t become a control freak!
You will only end up being stressed and not enjoy your wedding planning – remember the planning should be as enjoyable as the day itself.
