Lucy and Dan’s marquee wedding was very personalised, all thanks to Lucy’s artistic ways and creativity…

The Where…

Lucy and Dan were married in the middle of August in the Boathouse at Cheswell Grange. A marquee wedding reception followed within the grounds overlooking the lakeside.

Styling and Theme

Lucy and Dan's marquee wedding style

I’ve already mentioned that Lucy has an artistic flair. When you’re as good as she is, you really do need to show off your talent on your Wedding day. Lucy certainly pulled out all of the stops.

Lucy and Dan named each table was named after places they had been to. Not content with a simple name card, Lucy drew a landmark from the places.

Even the favours for the Guests were Lucy’s handiwork with everything from miniature bottles of alcohol for the adults, small cacti for the non-drinkers, and friendship bands (Made by Lucy, of course) for children. She even created activity packs to keep the 30 children entertained during the meal. There was also a play area including lego blocks and a ball pit inside a tipi, I did have to make a health and safety announcement when the time came for the adults to be seated in the marquee!

The formalities

Telford and Wrekin Registrar Services carried out the Ceremony. Music at the vital times (Lucy’s entrance to the Boathouse, the signing of the register, and their exit from the Boathouse) performed acoustically by Darren Jones.

Food and Drink

After the Ceremony, guests were served a selection of canapes and prosecco provided by Pro-Roasts. At the same time, Matt Thomason captured the day on camera.

I called the guests into the marquee  when the time was right. Speeches kicked off the wedding breakfast by Lucy’s dad, Dan, and finishing with the best men.

When it was time for Guests to be served food, Pro-roasts provided a BBQ service. To avoid queues, I called up each table at a time.

Evening reception

Another 60 Guests were invited to the evening reception, which started with Lucy and Dan cutting their wedding cake carefully made by their friend. Their first dance followed, Songbird by Oasis, followed by the dancefloor being filled to the sound of the live band The Kickers.

A photo booth was provided by Fells Fun Booth for Guests to gather keepsakes of the special day.

Lucy and Dan's marquee wedding food

When Guests got hungry, Pro-Roasts was on hand again to serve pizza and pulled pork baps.

Final words

Lucy and Dan’s marquee wedding was a lovely day, and it was beautiful to see all of the personal touches that Lucy had made. She had thought of everything from ensuring that all the young children were kept entertained to making sure there was plenty of food. Even the favours catered for all Guests. Congratulations, Lucy and Dan, and I wish you all the best for your future together.
