Liam and Emily’s special day was my first wedding of the year back at the beautiful Cheswell Grange.
Arriving at Cheswell Grange
Liam and Emily married at St. Lawrence Church in Gnosall, about 10 miles from Cheswell Grange. While guests arrived at the reception venue, Liam and Emily came in a classic vintage car.
Kathryn Masters, violinist, set up on the deck of the Boathouse and performed modern-day tunes.
The Calm before the storm…
The drinks reception took place in beautiful sunshine, and it was so hot we decided to take the sides of the marquee to allow what little breeze to pass through.
When it was time, I made the necessary announcements, and reluctantly, Guests slowly made their way to their seats in the marquee – the sun was still shining!
Cornerstone Kitchen served a magnificent 3-course meal, and then shortly followed speeches.
And then the Heavens opened…
Because it was so hot, the wedding cake had been stored in a cool area in the main house of Cheswell Grange. The Site Manager and I collected it to move to the marquee just as the biggest black cloud hung over it.
Just as we thought we should put the sides back on the marquee, it came…
Thunder, lightning, hail, torrential rain, you name it, we had every type of weather that day!
I must say a big well done and thank you to all the Guests who helped secure the marquee and make it watertight as much as possible and making sure that Liam and Emily’s special day wasn’t ruined!
Summer Wedding? – Always have a contingency plan
Cornerstone Catering planned to utilize their airstream trailer to serve street food-style burritos for the evening food.
The Fabulous Fizz Bar was an old Citroen van serving drinks outside the marquee.
When the Great British weather is against you, a contingency plan must be implemented. The evening food was prepared inside the catering tent. The waiting staff went around the Guests and served them, as they did for the Canapes. A makeshift bar was set up inside the marquee so Guests could still enjoy a drink and celebrate!
When it was time for the last of the formalities, Liam and Emily cut their two-tier semi-naked cake, made by Emily herself, before moving to the dance floor for the first dance – Amazed by Lonestar.
Not just a Wedding Coordinator – I can DJ too (Of sorts!)
Rather than have a DJ or band, Liam and Emily decided to put together a Spotify playlist.
My task, as well as ensuring the day went to plan, was to play the first dance and then move onto the main playlist for the rest of the evening – phew, I managed it!
MW Photography captured the whole day.
Hopefully, the storm didn’t ruin Liam and Emily’s special day. I want to congratulate them on a beautiful wedding and wish them happiness for their future together.
