Jane and Max contacted me in May 2022, asking me to coordinate their Wedding. The only thing was that their chosen Venue wasn’t open as a wedding venue. In fact, it was very much being renovated!
Fast forward to May 2023, and I was so excited to coordinate Jane and Max’s Wedding, the first Wedding at a brand new Venue in Shrewsbury, Moat Hall Barns.
Jane and Max greeted each of their Guests as they arrived, and they were served a choice of drinks by The Iron Bar. (They were having an informal wedding ceremony, so in this case, serving drinks before the ceremony was fine!)
A Pianist entertained the Guests while they mingled in the hot sunshine.
At the same time, the Guests were encouraged to write a message on a ribbon and tie it onto an archway, which would form over the walkway to the Ceremony area.
Making the perfect keepsake to remember who shared their day with them.
Jane and Max had already legally married a few days before. They had a beautiful informal ceremony led by Max’s brother overlooking the lake.
The Bride and Groom had planned to have a fizz tower – for photo purposes. With the help of YouTube for logistical purposes, I put together the champagne coupes into a tower before the ceremony. The plan was for Max and Jane to cut off the top of a champagne bottle with a ceremonial sword.
Unfortunately, the owner of the Sword had other ideas – he got a bit excited and knocked the tower over!
It created a talking point throughout the day, and fortunately, Jane and Max took it in good spirits.
The good news is that we managed to recreate the tower with the rescued coups that hadn’t smashed, albeit on a smaller scale. The photographer was able to capture the shot after all!
Food and Drink
Jane and Max provided the drinks for the Wedding, and the bar and serving staff were provided by The Iron Bar.
Before the Ceremony, The Cheese Emporium delivered pre-prepared canapes, which I put on a bookcase for Guests to help themselves.
The Cheese Emporium also provided a selection of wraps for later in the evening. Part of my role in the day was to put these out onto a buffet table.
For the Wedding breakfast, Tigellae prepared a pasta dish for starters and risotto for the main course. All of which were professionally served by The Iron Bar.
Partying on into the night
Jane and Max decided not to have a first dance, but their Guests filled the dance floor and celebrated the special day by dancing away to the DJ.
The highlight of my day
It was an absolute pleasure to coordinate Jane and Max’s Wedding. It was a beautiful day, and I wish them all the best for their future together. But I can’t leave their special day there without mentioning my new mascot, my gnome! All of the Guests were given one of these, each with their name, and each hand-painted in a way to represent their personalities. Well done, Jane and Max, you must know I like pink!!!
