So, how do you handle awkward guests at your Wedding?
It’s your special day and you want to be able to invite everyone you have known to share it with you. However, there may be some people on your Guest list that could, well shall we say, be a bit tricky….
Here are a few of those tricky scenarios as a guide on how to handle awkward guests …
YOUR OLD COLLEGE FRIENDS
Back in the day, you loved hanging out in the local bars and getting drunk together, but do you want that sort of behaviour on your Wedding Day?
Sit them all on the same rowdy table and the back of the room;
If you can’t beat them, join them and party together like you’re back in college.
They decide to be the loudest when it comes to the best man’s speech; your stress limits go through the roof every time they run past your beautiful delicate wedding cake…
Put together an activity pack that will keep the little ones entertained all day
Have a no-children policy
You know, the one who forgets he has a job to do by helping with the wedding day and tries to drink the bar dry
Get the Best Man to write a clear list of tasks of what each of the Groomsmen should be doing on the Wedding Day.
Usually Ushers are the Bride or Groom’s brother, if that’s the case get Mom or Dad to sort him out!
THE UNINVIITED PLUS ONE
You’ve taken ages to work out your perfect table plan and now a close family member decides they want to bring their new boyfriend/girlfriend..
Ask your Venue to add an extra place and accept it.
Apologise and say that you’re at your maximum numbers for the day and invite the plus one to the evening only.
THE DRUNK UNCLE
This is quite a common one at Weddings – there’s always one family member (And yes, it’s usually a man, I’m afraid) who thinks he’s an Adonis and spends the day making your Bridesmaid feel uncomfortable (I’ve got one in my family!)
This is an awkward guest to handle, so you may have to delegate another family member to handle him!
Make him part of the entertainment at your Wedding and laugh at him (You might want to warn your Bridesmaids beforehand because of his tendencies)
