My wedding season started with Hannah and Geoff’s Barn Wedding at the beautiful Bridal Barn near Bridgnorth, Shropshire. And what a busy start to the season I had!
Due to the dynamics of the day (more to follow on that later), sadly, I didn’t get a chance to take many photo’s highlighting Hannah and Geoff’s special day. I can’t wait to see the creative work that Photographer James Fear captured, alongside the memories captured on film by John Taylor.
The Barn was decorated to create a rustic feel by Country Foxes, who worked hard to transform the Barn both before the day and between the Ceremony and Reception.
Getting to the Wedding on time…
Hannah and Geoff chose to have a civil ceremony inside the main Barn at the Bridal Barn.
Once the formal interviews were carried out by Shropshire Registrars, the Ceremony began.
Food and Drink
After the Ceremony, The Iron Bar Hire served the Guests a choice of Batham’s real ale, a selection of cocktails, or Prosecco. They provided a dry hire and staffing service. The bar was then a cash bar provided by Tipples during the evening reception.
One thing is for sure; the guests would not be going hungry at this Wedding.
There were no canapes as such during the reception drinks. Instead, Hannah and Geoff had a variety of bar snacks such as pork scratchings, scampi, and bacon bites which guests were encouraged to help themselves.
Spreads and Breads placed beautiful grazing platters along the long tressle tables in the Barn for the wedding breakfast. As an alternative to desserts, an Ice Cream trike was situated outside the barns courtesy of Love My Event.
During the evening, guests chose food to soak up the alcohol. There was a pizza horsebox from The Wedding Pizza Company, which served personalised pizzas for the day. “The Geoff” – Pepperoni, Salami, and Bacon, “The Hannah” – Goats Cheese, Caramelised Red Onion, and Sausage (Which I can highly recommend!), “The Rupert” (Named after Hannah and Geoff’s dog) – Classic Margherita, and finally “The Awkward Vegan” – Vegan cheese, sauce, garlic, truffle oil, and fresh basil. For Guests not fancying Pizza, there was also Argentinian Lamb Asado provided by The Argentinian BBQ Company.
Like the food, there was a variety of entertainment on the day.
Beginning with the Ceremony, the talented Jo Dodds, Violinist performed throughout. Then afterwards, Lazy Marmelade sang an acoustic set outside in the Tipi before the Wedding Breakfast.
Lazy Marmelade performed again throughout the evening reception with more floor-filling songs, with DJ sets in between, and Sax player Elijah Paul Sax accompanied them for a club vibe.
For Guests who wanted a break from the dancefloor, there was a magic photo mirror from The Wedding Party Rental Company and a beer pong table that Hannah and Geoff had set up themselves.
LOGISTICS OF THE DAY
At the start of this blog, I said that it was a busy day for me. This was because Hannah and Geoff had their Ceremony in the same Barn as their wedding reception. After the Ceremony, I had approximately 2 hours to transform the Barn from a Ceremony space with benches set in a theatre-style layout to tables and benches to create an eating area for 143 Guests!
Thankfully I had the help of some strong Rugby Player Guests to help move the tressle tables in place. But then I was on my own!
Fortunately, Hannah’s matron of honour had put together the place settings of the plate, napkin, and place card in order, so I just had to put 143 of these in the correct place! Followed by 143 wine glasses, 143 mineral water bottles, 143 Tea light favours, and finally, making sure that there were bread knives and tongs in place for the grazing platters.
Mission accomplished, I just about finished by the time the Guests were due to sit!
Just over 20,000 steps walked and ran! The day went well, Hannah and Geoff were happy, and I left knowing that I had done my job… Bring on the next Wedding to coordinate!
I love my job!
