Last Saturday saw me coordinate my last wedding of the year. What a way to finish a crazy busy season. After getting married in Lake Como a few weeks before, Gemma and Marvin’s after wedding party indeed went off with a bang!
So, Gemma and Marvin had already got married, having had a small intimate Ceremony in Italy with 10 of their closest family joining them. Now was the big party with 200 family and friends partying the day and night away in a tipi at their home in Shropshire
Style and Decor
I arrived on Site for a pre-wedding meeting the Thursday before. The Tipi still had its finishing touches carried out by the team from Shire Tipis. By Friday, the preparations were soon coming together. The rustic shepherd’s hut toilet had been installed by Nomadic Washrooms (Complete with milk churn urinals!)
Lucy from Party Perfectionist was on hand to create a perfect boho style for the tables with a combination of candleabras, tea lights, and foliage.
Vikki from Bunch of Balloons added the final touches on Saturday morning with a massive balloon arch at the entrance of the TipiTipi with blush, nude, and ivory colours.
Food and Drink
Most of the Guests arrived in the afternoon by Shuttle bus that Gemma and Marvin had laid on for them, so there was no excuse to have a drink or two and enjoy the day. When they arrived at the Tipi, The team at The Iron Bar served them a choice of champagne, Aperol spritz, or beer. At the same time, Adam Purnell, Shropshire Lad, provided canapes of homemade sausage rolls, spiced tomato crostini, and giant langoustines. Later in the day, Adam served Guests a choice of taco’s from beef, bream, or feta and beetroot (That, I have to say, were gorgeous).
To keep hunger at bay, later in the evening, Adam was there again to provide Pork Baps, and he also created a grazing table of continental meats and cheeses. While the Iron Bar continued to satisfy Guests’ thirst by serving drinks that Gemma and Marvin had provided.
Although there was no dessert, the beautiful four-tier buttercream cake created by Cakes for Crumbs was cut up and available to Guests during the evening.
Gemma and Marvin’s After Wedding Party
Once all the daytime Guests had arrived, I announced for them to take their seats to view the video showing highlights of the ceremony in Italy before Ella Coleman sang some Chilled acoustic tunes in the first of three sets that she performed. Chelsea Shoesmith captured group photos and also candid shots of the day.
Witty Pics Caricaturist was on hand to create some comical portraits of the Guests as keepsakes of the day. And Ella’s other two sets slowly increased in tempo, ready for the party to liven up later in the evening…
Evening Dancing, Fireworks, and a Suprise Headline Guest…
The rest of the Guests arrived by coach around 7pm. Now, Ella and her band were livening up the Guests with a selection of tunes from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s before local club DJ Kiddo hit the decks.
Around 10pm, between myself and Kiddo, we got all of the Guests gathered up outside the TipiTipi, for a firework display, which included “floating candles” on the lake and finishing off with a heart and G and M lit up on either side.
Time for Guests to go back into the TipiTipi, to hit the dancefloor for the headline act, 90’s Hacienda DJ Graeme Park!
To say that my last wedding ended on a high was an understatement. Gemma had put so much effort into planning her special day, and seeing it all come together was fantastic. I wish Gemma and Marvin a wonderful future together, and it was an absolute pleasure to be part of their day.
