Freya and Andrews Barn Wedding near Shrewsbury was a result of Brand new Wedding Venue, Malthouse Barn near Shrewsbury. They held a competition for all Keyworkers to win the Barn for their Wedding Venue. Freya and Andrew both worked for the NHS and were the lucky winners.
Freya contacted me in April wanting help in coordinating her and Andrew’s Wedding Day. She wanted to make sure that nothing went wrong. At the end of a reassuring phone call, I knew that this was going to be a beautiful day. Fast forward to 6th November, and I wasn’t wrong.
I arrived at Malthouse Barns on the morning of the wedding and met with Andrew. Dressed and ready to go, he looked relaxed as he sipped on a pint of Hobsons beer. He even had his personal designed drinking vessel based on his Man Cave in the Cellar back home!
I quickly saw how Freya was doing. It was clear to see that the nerves were taking hold. I tried to reassure her that there was nothing to be nervous about and that she knew everyone there!
Wedding Style and Theme
During my Pre-Wedding Meeting, I always ask Couples what their style and theme are. Freya told me they were going for “natural and rustic” and stuck to this. Wild Atelier created beautiful floral displays in the many Gin bottles used for decor. Andrew did say they had been collecting them over the years since they had been together!
Uplit Events also created a flower arch for the Wedding Ceremony, which, with the help of the Waiting Staff, was moved to behind the top table for the Wedding Breakfast.
Freya and Andrew opted for a Celebrant Ceremony, carrying out the legalities at their local Registrar Office the day before. The excellent Rachel Buchanan led the Ceremony. I can honestly say I have never seen so many tears (Of joy, of course!) from a Bride and Groom as they made their vows to each other!
There was no signing of the Register, so instead, Freya and Andrew wrote the first message to each other in their Guest Book. Rachel then encouraged all of the Guests to follow with their own kind words throughout the day.
Confetti and Canapes!
After the Ceremony, Guests were encouraged to pick a handful of confetti before going outside for Confetti and Group Photos captured by James of ATD Photography. (This also gave me a chance to move chairs from the Ceremony area to tables ready for the Wedding Breakfast)
Once back inside in the warmth, the excellent Caviar and Chips served a range of beautiful Canapes (including actual caviar and chips!), and prosecco was also freely served to Guests. As Guest’s mingled, they were entertained by the fantastic Dreamers Duo, who played a range of acoustic songs.
The Wedding Breakfast
After a couple of hours, I announced for Guests to make their way to their seats as Caviar and Chips would shortly serve food. Caviar and Chips served a three-course meal before the speeches took place.
The speeches followed the dessert, kicking off with Freya’s father, who decided to wear a cheeseburger hat!! And his speech also involved an exchange of alcohol between him and the Happy Couple! Including a bottle of chilli mead for Andrew!
As always (usually!) The best man finished off the Speeches with hilarious stories of the Groom – complete with photographic evidence!
The Evening Reception
Once the Speeches had finished, Guests were encouraged to take tea and coffee in the other half of the Barn. I could then arrange to move the tables to create a dance area for the Evening Reception. It wasn’t too tricky, and before long, Freya and Andrew were doing the traditional cutting of the Cake, which Freya’s friend had magnificently created. Straight after, Freya and Andrew took to the dance floor for the first dance, Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac, before everyone joined them for the party, helped by DJ, Craig of Rainbow Sounds, who also provided background music for the Wedding Breakfast.
For anyone hungry, Caviar and Chips provided pulled pork baps later on in the evening.
