Are you having a DIY Wedding?  In other words, a Marquee, Barn, Tipi, Village Hall or similar?

If you are, you seriously need to think about hiring an On the Day Coordinator.

are you having a DIY WeddingAs you probably know (if you have looked at the rest of my Website) I am a Wedding Coordinator. I work with Couples having their DIY Wedding to make sure their day runs according to their plans and that they can enjoy every moment, worry free.

My job doesn’t just happen on your Wedding Day, there is a lot of background work that I do.  In this post, I want to talk you through exactly what happens when you hire me.

It all starts with a chat, this can be either by phone, in person or Skype.  We talk about your plans that you’ve already made, and what else you dream of having for your big day.

I may throw in a bit of advice – but it’s just guidance.  Ultimately, your Wedding Day should be your day to have your way.

I will do a site visit to where you’re having your Wedding reception and check to see if there are any possible logistical issues (also it is a check to see if I can find it without getting lost!)

Together, we will also go through the running of your day so I can get an idea of timings – This is just a guideline.

A couple of weeks before your Wedding Day, I will contact all of your Suppliers and confirm final details with them, such as what time they are due to arrive, contact details for the day etc.

THE DAY BEFORE YOUR WEDDINGAre you having a DIY wedding

I will pop along to your Venue while you’re there and familiarise myself with the layout as well as going through the final plan with you for your Wedding Day.  As you will probably be busy setting up your perfect Wedding Reception, it will only be a quick visit so that you can get on.

I’ll arrive on site and carry out final checks – the toilets are all operating correctly, the tables laid correctly, and small tasks you may need me to do such as lighting candles etc. to ensure that everything is ready for you and your Guests’ arrival.

The rest of the day is spent with me liaising with your Suppliers, and making sure the day runs to plan and so that you don’t have to worry about a thing.

I can even act as Toastmaster, so all your Guests are in the right place at the right time.  (I have even been known to get on my hands and knees and dry a wet toilet floor when it has been raining so that the Bride doesn’t get her dress wet on the bottom!)  Hiring me as your On the Day Coordinator, I really do think of everything.

are you having a DIY WeddingAs well as being there to take care of your Wedding Day, I also think about the smaller details that you may not have considered…

For example:

When you come to cut your wedding cake, do you have a nice Cake knife for the photographs?

Have you thought about how your Guests will hear your speeches?

Every Wedding that I work on, I take a silver Cake Knife, my PA System and Microphone as well as my Wedding Day tool bag, that holds everything from first aid essentials, sewing kit, tools and so on.
