An Industrial Style Wedding and a Furry Guest of Honour

Last Weekend I had the absolute pleasure of coordinating Emma and Christian’s Industrial Style Wedding Day. It was absolutely fantastic . Although I was under pressure from getting specific music exactly right!

Location and Style

The Wedding was held at Cheswell Grange in Newport, Shropshire.  The Ceremony took place in the gorgeous Boathouse overlooking the Lake. The Reception then took place in the marquee.

When I met with Emma and Christian for the pre-wedding meeting, I asked them what their theme was. Emma said Industrial Style Wedding.  As the meeting went on, and Emma and Christian talked about their concept for the day, I was really excited to see the results.

Industrial style wedding When I arrived at Cheswell Grange, I wasn’t disappointed.  I have never worked on a Wedding with a style like the one that they created; it was amazing.  Between them, they had created oil drums for poseur tables, seating and a tea and coffee station out of pallets.  There were hanging lanterns in the top of the marquee, the design for the signage looked great too thanks too Chalk It Up.  All of Emma and Christian’s hard work was complimented by great floral displays, provided by Damson and Vine Florals and Rugs and furniture from The Vintage House That Could.

The other Guest of Honour!

As well as Emma and Christian being the stars of the Day, there was one other Guest that I cannot leave out – Baxter the Couple’s Labradoodle and he did an excellent job of guarding the Canapes during the drinks reception!

The Wedding Ceremony

So, I’ve already mentioned that the day began with the Ceremony, which followed with the start of the Wedding Reception with the Confetti Shot.  Emma and Christian still in the Boathouse, I made the announcement to the Guests to make their way out of the Boathouse and gather in two lines ready for the Confetti shot.  Once the Guests were in place, the happy Couple made their way out to the sound of “I feel it” by Leftwing : Kody.  But it wasn’t as simple as that; Emma and Christian walked out to a precise drop in the music at 15 seconds!

After the Confetti shot, Guests were served Canapes by Sticky Beaks Catering and Drinks by The Estate Boys. Closely followed by various group photo and video shots by James Merrick and The Wandering Film Co.

The Reception

Late afternoon, I announced for Guests to make their way to the Marquee as food was about to be served.  Now for the most pressure for me on the day…  Emma and Christian wanted to make their entrance into the Marquee to “You and Me” Flume Remix by Disclosure, Eliza Doolittle Flume.  Sounds simple right?  Except that Emma and Christian wanted to walk in at a precise moment –  at  drop at 1 minute 4 seconds.  No pressure for me!  I needed to make sure that the music played, and I made the announcement of their entrance without having a long awkward pause of nothing for the Guests.  After lots of practicing, I worked out that I needed to say “Ladies and Gentlemen, will you please be upstanding for the arrival of the new Mr and Mrs Manahan” at precisely 55 seconds ….Guess what, it worked (Phew!)

The food had a personal touch for the Bride and Groom.  They got engaged in Vietnam so the food for both the day and evening was themed to reflect this.

As the Wedding reception flowed into the evening, the DJ was provided by The Estate Boys, who kicked off the evening by announcing the cutting of the cake before going straight into the first dance.

Final Words and Supplier Credits

The day was perfect from start to finish, the sun was shining, the Guests were great, and of course the Bride and Groom (and Baxter) looked amazing.  As an industrial style wedding, this was perfect. I really enjoyed working on this Wedding, complete with my furry four-legged assistant, when I cut up the cake to serve to the Guests for the evening – he did a great job of cleaning up any food off the floor!
