Alternative Wedding Food Alternative wedding food options…. who says that you must have a formal sit-down meal followed by an evening finger buffet comprising of soggy vol au vents and all things orange!

I am all for doing something different for your big day, and especially when it comes to your wedding food.

There are so many fantastic suppliers of alternative wedding food out there, you’re almost spoilt for choice.

Here are some alternative wedding food ideas that you may want to think about for your special day.

FOOD STATIONSAlternative Food Options

Are you fed up with trying to come up with a menu to please all your fussy guests? Why not have different buffet stations around your reception venue? Perhaps if you both have a passion for travel you could incorporate this into your food choices.

CHEESE AND WINE

Perhaps you are having a later wedding ceremony or are looking for that alternative wedding food to the evening buffet.  Why not have cheese and wine? Gone are the days of the 80’s parties with a piece of cheddar and a vinegar tasting bottle of red – there is such a selection of both available nowadays.  You could contact a local wine merchant for recommendations – And you could have a cheese “cake” as an alternative to your wedding cake.

AFTERNOON TEA

Perfect for a vintage themed wedding – think about tea served in vintage china cup and saucers and a selection of sandwiches and cakes served on a traditional vintage cake stand.  A perfect alternative wedding food choice if you are having a small wedding and want a formal sit-down meal.

BBQ / HOG ROASTS

The perfect solution if you’re having a marquee wedding, brilliant for a sunny day and a great way to get your Guests mingling with each other.  They are also a great alternative wedding food if you are on a tight budget.

(Remember to cater for any vegetarians though)

A SPANISH FIESTA

Nobody knows how to have an enjoyable dining experience more than the Spanish.  Think about a mixture of tapas dishes on each table for your Guests to help themselves, or even a giant paella served to your guests.

Whatever alternative wedding food you choose, always remember to make it about you both as a couple.
