Aidan and Shona’s marquee wedding, situated overlooking beautiful views near Bridgnorth in Shropshire, took place in September.
The Drinks Reception – And car park duty!
Aidan and Shona married at the local village church, less than a mile from the marquee.
Their guests made their way to the marquee site. And one of my first tasks as part of my on-the-day coordination service was the task of car park duty! Aidan and Shona had decided they wanted guests leaving their car overnight (They had laid on a shuttle bus for those wanting it) to park at a separate side of the parking field from those guests who would be driving at the end of the night.
The photographer, Catherine Evans, captured informal moments and formal group photos while Guests mingled with each other.
Venue and Styling
Before I go on to the rest of the day, I wanted to talk about the styling and decor of Aidan and Shona’s marquee wedding.
Outside the marquee, Aidan and Shona had also included wooden planters, personalised for the day.
When I had the pre-wedding meeting with Shona, she told me that her style, theme, and colour scheme were rustic and informal, with deep pink, gold, and neutral colours. I think you’ll agree; the brief and design have been captured perfectly.
The Wedding Breakfast
I didn’t have to carry out toastmaster duties for this particular wedding. Instead, this was assigned to one of the ushers, Will. However, I was still on hand to prompt him! So, when the time was right, Will announced to the guests to make their way into the marquee for the food to be served.
Oak Apple catering provided a delicious three-course meal followed by tea and coffee before Shona’s father kicked off the speeches. I always love listening to the Speeches; I feel like I get to know the couple – especially the Groom when the Best Man (or, in this case, Best Men) dish the dirt on the Groom!
After the speeches, Guests could chill and chat before the start of the evening reception.
Cocktail Hour and Evening Reception
The evening reception began with The Iron Bar serving cocktails to get the party mood going.
Aidan and Shona cut their wedding cake which Aidan’s family cleverly made, before going straight to the dancefloor for their first dance –You make my dreams come true by Hall and Oates.
Well, now we’ve come to the end of the formalities, so along with their guests, Aidan and Shona stayed on the dancefloor and danced the night away with performances from Flood the Floor.
For evening food, Aidan and Shona provided a selection of cheeses, pork pies, and meats, which I displayed on the top table – now used as the buffet table.
Shona and Aidan’s marquee wedding really hit their plans of being an informal, relaxed day, and I wish them all the happiness for their future together. To find out more about how I can coordinate and help your Wedding day, drop me an email or give me a call on 07980 679575
