What do you get when you have a day in August pouring down with rain, a marquee and a mix of army and rugby guests? A bloody good wedding party that’s what!

That pretty much sums up the latest wedding that LMS Weddings had the pleasure of working on in the middle of August.  One thing that I can’t plan is the Great British Summertime (Or in this case, the lack of it!)

Gilly and Barry’s wedding was the first to take place at a brand new Venue in Newport in Shropshire. Cheswell Grange offered a beautiful boathouse overlooking a lake for their wedding ceremony, followed by a marquee for the reception.

A marquee wedding on the lakeWhen I arrived at Cheswell Grange, I was met with a slightly stressed and nervous Groom to be.  A large gin seem to relax him though!

Despite the weather, I knew that this was going to be a good day for Barry and Gilly. When black cat crossed their path several times. Also, while Gilly was being driven the small journey from the Bridal Suite (Or should I say self contained Cottage) The Cure’s “Friday I’m in Love” decided to sound through the car stereo. (Gilly and Barry’s wedding was on a Friday)

So, the big day kicked off with a very busy Boathouse full of Guests ready to see the newly weds say their vows.  Their was also a string duet, Palamorosa Strings, playing some beautiful music. A marquee wedding on the lake

Sadly, because of the damp conditions, Dave the Daschund who was going to be a ring bearer had to make a last minute cancellation. He feared his tummy was going to get damp!

A hot buffet shortly followed to feed the Guests provided by Pig Roast Catering.

Once the additional evening Guests arrived the dance floor soon started being filled up with the sounds of Sonic Boom , one of my favourite bands, kicking out some brilliant tunes, including the first dance, Yellow by Coldplay

Apart from a brief interlude, when the Photographer managed to get a few pics of the Guests on the steps of the Boathouse, the rain just didn’t stop.  That didn’t stop the rugby players who were present.  Give them a rugby ball and they can’t resist!

Gilly and Barry are a beautiful couple and it was a complete pleasure to be part of their day.  To find out more about how I can help coordinate your Wedding Day have a look at the Services page on the websitea marquee wedding on the lake
